Mother, clandestine lover arrested over the death of 2-year-old

A mother who is suspected for allegedly beating to death her two-year-old child with a broom has been arrested.
According to the Ahturugiriya police, a clandestine lover of the woman who aided the crime has also been arrested.
The remains of the child will also be exhumed from an abandoned bare land in Ahturugiriya upon information received, Ada Derana reporter said.
The mother, 26, has been identified as a resident of Mahiyanganaya. The suspects will be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate today.
