Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara says that he will address the civil community members and social organizations in Jaffna with regard to the action taken by the police and the situation in the Northern Province.

A discussion regarding the matters of the police officers who work in Jaffna was held under the leadership of the IGP at the auditorium of the Jaffna District Secretariat yesterday.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Jayasundara said he decided to come to the Northern Province to address the grievances of police officers on the directions of the President and the Prime Minister and Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake and special request made by the Ministers D.M. Swaminathan and Mano Ganesan

“But before that the public request was to address the civil community members and social organizations with regard to the action taken by the police and the situation in the Northern Province.”

“National security assurance, what we have done and the action taken to eradicate crime, present crime and the solving of other big crime cases as well as to what about the detections made in recent times by the police and the STF with regard to the narcotics and other illegal drugs,” he said, adding that this needs to be expedited. 

The IGP said that civil organizations will be addressed by him today in Jaffna comprising 18 police station areas in Jaffna and KKS police divisions.
