One arrested over the murder of 9-year-old in Ridimaliyadda

An arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a 9-year-old child whose body was recovered from a canal in the Ridimaliyadda area in Mahiyanganaya. 

 


The suspect has been identified as a resident of Ridimaliyadda, according to the police. 

 


The body of the 9-year-old student was recovered on Saturday afternoon. Police said that the body was found during a search carried out following a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents stating that she had not returned home from school on Friday (17). 

 


The body was discovered from the canal located around one-and-a-half kilometers away from her home.
