
The Department of Meteorology says that strong winds at times can be expected over the country and the surrounding sea areas.
Deep and shallow sea areas around the island can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, it said.
Showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Uva province, particularly after 2.00 p.m.
The sea area extending from Puttalam to Batticaloa via Mannar, Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee and the sea area extending from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota and Matara can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up 60-70 kmph.
Other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50-60 kmph at times.
