Control prices of 16 essential items announced

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce today announced control prices  imposed on 16 essential items effective immediately.

 

The Gazette is expected tomorrow (15 July).

 

Announcing the list of commodities and the controlled prices at a press conference today, Secretary of the ministry TMKB Tennakoon said that the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) will inspect and instigate legal action against traders who sell the below mentioned items above the control price.

 

List of commodities and controlled price (per kg):

 

Chicken (with skin)  - Rs 410.00
Chicken (skinless) – Rs 495.00
Red dhal – Rs 169.00
Sprats (Thailand) – Rs 495.00 
Sprats (Dubai) – Rs 410.00 
Chickpeas – Rs 260
Green gram – Rs 220
Canned fish (Regular 480g) - Rs 140     
Canned fish (105g) - Rs 70
White Sugar – Rs 95.00
Wheat flour – Rs 87.00
Full cream milk powder (imported) – Rs 810.00
Full cream milk powder (domestic) – Rs 735
Potatoes (imported) – Rs 120.00
B Onions (imported) – Rs 78
Dry chilies – Rs 385
Dried fish - Katta – Rs 1,100
Dried Fish - Sardinella (Salaya) - Rs 425.00
Maldive fish – Rs 1,500
Sustagen  - Rs 1,500

 

The price of green gram has been reduced by Rs 45 while Maldive fish has been reduced by Rs 240.
