Met Department warns of strong winds

The Department of Meteorology says that strong windy conditions, up to 60-70 kmph, are expected over the country and surrounding sea area.
The sea area extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanturai and the sea area extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil can bevery rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph.
Other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50-55 kmph at times, according to the severe weather advisory issued by the department’s Early Warning Centre.
The Met Department requested naval and fishing communities to be vigilant in this regard.
