An individual has been arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm at Mee Oya area in Puttalam.
Police said that a locally manufactured weapon which may have been used for hunting purposes was seized.
The 45-year-old suspect is a resident of Muriyakulama, Karuwalagaswewa.
The suspect will be produced before the Puttalam District court.
