Pakistan, Sri Lanka to enhance relations in fields of technica vocational

Pakistan and Sri Lanka has agreed to enhance their collaboration to reboot the Technical Training & Vocational Education (TVET) system in Pakistan.

 


It was decided in a meeting held here between the Executive Director National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema and Minister for Skills Development and Vocational Training, Sri Lanka Mahinda Samarasinghe.

 


Zulfiqar Cheema briefed the minister about the role of NAVTTC as an advisory body to the federal government on TVET.

 


He told him about the recent initiatives of NAVTTC to introduce reforms in the current TVET system of Pakistan including establishment of Job Placement Center and introducing Competency Based Training throughout the country.

 


Mahina Samarasinghe, said that Pakistan is the most trusted friend of Sri Lanka of all the countries in South Asia and ensured their full cooperation and support.

 


Zulfiqar Cheema emphasized on the special bonds of affinity that exist between the two countries, which are based on their rich historical and cultural interactions as well as the shared aspirations of their people for peace, progress and prosperity. He urged the two countries should enhance their collaboration to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan.

 


The executive director also held meetings with Chairman Technical & Vocational Education Commission, Rajiva Wijesinha, Secretary P. Ranepura, Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC).

 


During the meetings, both the countries decided to extend mutual cooperation in technical and vocational field and a Memorendum of Understanding was renewed in this regard.

 


Executive Director NAVTTC, examined training activities during the visit of Construction institutes, Prima cooking and baking institute, textile workshops and Colombo dockyard.

 


He thoroughly analyzed the implementation of Competency Based Training (CBT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in various institutes of Sri Lanka.
