Assistant Principal of Primary School arrested over bribe

The Assistant Principal of the Nugawela Model Primary School has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
He was taken to custody while soliciting a bribe of Rs. 15,000 to give admission for a Grade 1 student, the Director of the Investigation Unit of the Commission SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri said.
Bribery Commission stated that the suspect has demanded a bribe of Rs 35,000 and had already received a sum of Rs 20,000.
The Assistant Principal is to be produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court while investigations are ongoing.
