
President Maithripala Sirisena and the Sri Lankan delegation have left the country to attend the 71st United Nations General Assembly due to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York from September 19 to 26.
The President is due to address the General Assembly on Wednesday. This is the second time that President Sirisena is addressing the UN General Assembly.
The Sri Lanka delegation to the Summit will also include officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry under the instructions of Minister Mangala Samaraweera. Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Arjuna Ranathunga and Faizer Mustafa and the Member of Parliament Nalaka Kolonne were among the delegation of the President.
