Suspect hangs himself in police cell in Pussallawa

A suspect has committed suicide by hanging himself inside a cell at the Pussallawa Police, early hours of this morning.
The man had used the shirt he had been wearing to hang himself and was pronounced dead upon admittance to the Pussallawa Hospital, police said.
The deceased, a 30-year-old resident of the same area, was arrested and detained in the police cell over a warrant issued against him, an official said.
The suicide victim’s body will be handed over to relatives following the completion of the postmortem examination.
