Met. Dept. issues severe weather warning

Strong winds at times can be expected over the country and the surrounding sea areas.
Particularly,the deep and shallow sea area off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Galle, Colombo and Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-65 kmph.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard. Mainly fair weather condition will prevail over the island. However, Light showers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in the Galle district.
Thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Trincomalee district after 2.00 p.m.
