Delay in compensation in Uma Oya project sparks protest

A protest has been staged at the Ella Divisional Secretariat office by a group of people since this morning, Ada Derana reporter said.
The demonstration was staged over the failure to provide compensation for their lost properties due to the Uma Oya project, it was reported.
Over 250 persons have engaged in the protest, Ada Derana reporter added. However, the Supreme Court had earlier ordered the Uva Province Director of Agriculture to compensate the farmers whose crops were affected as a result of the Uma Oya project.
