SLFP will never endorse a federal solution - Siripala

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will never allow the formation of a federal state, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva says.

He expressed this view while participating at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (29).

“The SLFP will never endorse for a federal solution,” he added.

He pointed out that therefore there is no need to panic following the alarming message of Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran which was made during a rally held in Jaffna last week.

“The SLFP severely condemns remarks made by the Chief Minister. It only provoked those who are eyeing to spread racism in the South,” Siripala added.

According to the Minister, the division of Tamil Diaspora groups into two parts, one endorsing the views of slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and the others who hold the position that Tamils, Sinhalese and all other communities in Sri Lanka should live in unity, has resulted C.V. Vigneswaran of making such statements.
