The National Water Supply and Drainage Board today requested people living in urban areas and lowlands to use water carefully due to the prevailing dry weather conditions in parts of the country.
Chairman of the water board K. Alahudeen Ansar said that the water levels of reservoirs in the Western, Southern, Uva and North Central provinces are still very low and that water consumption has drastically increased due to the prevailing weather.
The distribution of water using bowsers is currently being carried out in areas not supplied water by the water board and worst affected by the dry weather condition.
The chairman of the water board urged consumers to inform issues regarding water requirements to their respective District Secretariats or the water board through the hotline 1939.
