Navy rejects allegations of harming Indian fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy has strongly rejected the allegation leveled against them by Indian media that they had attacked some Indian fishermen off Kachchatheevu island.
A spokesperson said that however the Navy would not hesitate to arrest anyone who attempts entering into Sri Lankan territorial waters.
The PTI reported yesterday that more than 2,000 Indian fishermen were on Sunday forced to return from sea without a catch after they were allegedly attacked by Sri Lankan Naval personnel.
Though nobody was injured in the attack, several boats suffered damages, the President of the Indian Fishermen Association has said.
