
The proposed bills with respect of Buddhism will not be presented to Parliament until it get the blessings of Maha Sangha, including the Tri Nikayas’, Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala says.
Sumathipala went on to say that the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance (amendment) Bill (Vihara Gam Devala Act) and the ‘Theravada Bhikkhu Dialogue’ Bill will not be presented until it get the nod of Maha Sangha.
The decision was made at the party leader’s meeting which was held this morning, he added.
However, earlier Justice and Buddhasasana Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has stated that the debate on the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance (amendment) Bill and the ‘Theravada Bhikkhu Dialogue’ Bill would be held on 04 October.
