Three arrested for brewing illegal liquor

The police have apprehended three persons for allegedly engaged in brewing illegal liquor in Wairankattuwa area in Chilaw.
A policemen team attached to the Chilaw police had made the arrest last night, acting on a tip-off, a police officer said.
According to police, the team has also seized items including 31448 liters of goda, 2632 liters of moonshine, some copper coils and a large haul of ammonia.
The arrested persons had been engaging in the racket for a long period of time, the police added. The suspects were remanded until 11 October after being produced before the Chilaw Magistrate.
