The Court of Appeal today decided to reissue notice on Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake with regard to the petition filed seeking a court order annulling the tax concessions provided to a beer manufacturing company.
The court ordered that notice be issued on the Finance Minister and other respondents in the case as the previously issued notice were not properly delivered.
On September 27, the court had issued notice on the minister, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Director General and eleven others to appear before Court today (12).
The petition, filed by the Sinhale National Front and six other parties, claimed that the government incurred a loss of six billion rupees due to the tax concessions to the private company during floods experienced in the island earlier this year.
