Eight students get probation for cannabis possession

Eight students from three major schools in Kandy, who were arrested for the possession of cannabis, have been sentenced to probation by the Teldeniya Magistrate’s Court.
The students, residents of Menikhinna and Kengalla, were in school uniform when they were arrested by police in the Oruthota area in Teldeniya.
The suspects were produced at court today while each of them were granted personal bail of Rs 25,000 and handed over to Child Care Services to operate the rehabilitation process while judicial action is being continued.
