
Three suspects including an Indian national have been arrested attempting to smugggle 36 kg of Kerala Cannabis, three kg of speciality paper used for printing fake currency and sildnefil citrate tablets, worth around Rs 5 million in total, into Sri Lanka by boat.
Naval personnel onboard SLNS Ranajaya attached to Northern Naval Command, arrested 3 suspects including an Indian national who attempted to smuggle 36 kg of Kerala Cannabis and a stock of drugs into the country by means of a dinghy in the seas off Delft Island yesterday (14).
The naval personnel also took the dinghy, 2 GPS units and 2 mobile phones into their custody, the navy media unit said.
The apprehended persons and items were handed over to Police Special Task Force, Jaffna for onward investigations.
Meanwhile naval personnel attached to SLNS Agbo located in Madagal in Northern Naval Command, arrested three persons for the possession of 103 kg of Kerala Cannabis, in the general area of Sendamkulam today (15).
The apprehended persons along with stock of cannabis were handed over to Kankesnthurai Police for onward legal action, navy said.
