Two arrested with 7,500 Non-electric Detonators

Sri Lanka Navy personnel have arrested two persons with 7,500 Non-electric Detonators, generally used to initiate explosions for the purpose of demolition, concealed in 100 packages in Palleimunai, Mannar.
On receipt of intelligence, naval personnel attached to SLNS Gajaba in Mannar belonging to the North Central Naval Command arrested the suspects.
The Navy suspects that, these detonators which are also used for illegal fishing activities other than its general use, had been transferred from India to the country.
The arrested suspects and the stock of detonators were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward action, SLN said.
