Disabled War Hero launches fast unto death over pension issue

A War Hero has launched a fast unto death in front of the Fort Railway Station demanding pension benefits for disabled veterans who have not completed 12 years of service.
The fast unto death campaign was launched since this morning (03), Ada Derana reporter said.
A group of differently abled War Heroes who have not completed 12 years of service also held a protest opposite the Presidential Secretariat demanding pension benefits on 01 November.
However, as at present, President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the relevant officials to take steps to provide pension benefits to the differently abled War Heroes who volunteered to retire prematurely due to medical reasons.
