The Department of Meteorology says that the depression in the Central Bay of Bengal is now located about 1200 km to the Northeast of Sri Lanka and that there is no direct effect on Sri Lanka.
However showers or thundershowers at times and cloudy skies can be expected to continue at most parts of the island. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) can be expected at some places, (particularly in the Southern, Central, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces) until 07th November.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Southern, Central, Western, North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Mannar district, the department said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly, after 2.00 p.m. while misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the morning.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the Met Department said.
