Some prominent ministers are attempting to point finger at former CB governor Arjuna Mahendran in a bid to defend the Prime Minister in bond scam, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila says.

The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (07).

Gammanpila pointed out because ministers like “Rajitha, Patali and Dayasiri” are accusing Arjuna Mahendran, people may assume that good governance still does exist within the government.

“But the true intention is to protect the Prime Minister,” he added.

The PHU leader also challenged Minister Patali Ranawaka for an open debate in this regard. “Earlier too I invited him for a debate, yet I received no response from him,” he added.

Gammanpila also pointed out the government is rushing to move the bond issue to the Courts, which he described as a disadvantage to the proposed parliamentary debate with respect of the incident.

“A court hearing should not be held until the parliamentary debate on the bond scam is concluded,” he insisted.
