Through the complaints lodged with the anti-graft commission thus for, the Joint Opposition made it clear that the government has lost funds to a tune of Rs.15 billion due to the alleged fraudulent conduct of the Prime Minister, MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage says.

He expressed this view while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo on Wednesday (09).

The fraudulent deals of some prominent politicians have also resulted the government to lose about Rs.32 billion, since the new government came to power in 2015, he said.

Aluthgamage said he urges the bribery commission to conduct impartial investigations in connect to the complaints that the Joint Opposition lodged with the law enforcement institute recently.

“On these politicos, I’m of the view the anti-graft commission may maintain a same level of interest as it had on opposition MPs,” he said.

Aluthgamage also went on to say there are 12 accusations against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake; three complaints were lodged with the bribery commission against him this morning.

“They started their campaign last year with the slogan ‘towards a corruption free country’, but it is shocking to see what has taken place even before 20 months,” he added.  

MP Ramesh Pathirana while speaking at the press conference said Minister Karunanayake had caused the state a loss through his alleged move to get 800 Prado vehicles and 900 Benz cars released from the Sri Lanka Customs without due process, and following his alleged move to allocate a warehouse for a company called “Global Park” without a bond which is believed to be owned by daughter of the Finance Minister.
