The owner of the Mawbima newspaper former MP Tiran Alles and two others, who were arrested and remanded in connection with the RADA case, have been released on bail by the Colombo High Court.
They were ordered released on cash bails of Rs 500,000 and four personal bails of Rs 2.5 million each by Colombo High Court Judge Kusala Weerawandena.
On November 02, three persons including Alles, who was the former Chairman of RADA, Dr Saliya Wickramasuriya, former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of RADA, and Jayantha Dias Samarasinghe, a former accountant of the agency were remanded till November 10 by the Colombo High Court, on charges of misappropriating public funds through the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA) in 2006.
However, the Court of Appeal on November 08 suspended the remand order on the suspects issued by Colombo High Court and ordered to release them after a revision petition was filed by Alles.
