The Government will encourage the use of electric cars for passenger transportation as an alternative to the less safe three-wheelers.
A pilot project will be launched for this purpose with loan facilities, he added.
Rs.200 million will be allocated for introduction of electric cars as alternative to three-wheelers and trishaws and school vans will be regulated. he added.
