
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake today announced that Excise (Special Provisions) Duty will be imposed on beer cans and on any lottery ticket.
Duty at the rate of Rs 10/- per can will be imposed on beer cans which are not more than 350ml and at Rs 15/- per can more than 350 ml.
Excise (Special Provisions) Duty will also be imposed on any lottery ticket at Rs 5/- per ticket.
He also announced 50% Excise Duty waiver from the payable duty for importing a motor car with CIF value not exceeding USD 50,000 will be granted to a person who exports minimum of 20 vehicles with a total value not less than USD 200,000.
Delivering the 2017 Budget Speech in Parliament today, he said that Excise Duty on motor vehicles will be revised.
Meanwhile the Excise (Special Provisions) Duty changes will be Gazetted.
Excise Duty will be introduced on imported non- potable alcohol at Rs 25/- per litre, he said.
