Navy rescues 7 local fishermen in distress

Sri Lanka Navy personnel have rescued 7 local fishermen in distress onboard a multiday fishing trawler which had collided with a merchant ship off the seas of Galle Harbour this morning (11).
The multiday fishing trawler ‘Janatha Putha 2’ ventured into the sea for fishing from the Galle Harbour before it had encountered this incident.
Naval personnel onboard P 484 Fast Attack Craft, attached to the Southern Naval Command, reached the location, 9 Nautical Miles off the seas of Galle Harbour and rescued the fishermen and fishing vessel in distress and brought them back to Galle Harbour safely, SLN said.
