The sanitary laborers collecting garbage in the Municipal councils will be provided with a health insurance, says Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha.
He made these comments after a meeting with the laborers of Municipal Councils.
On a concept of the Minister, classified garbage collection was commenced from November.
He met the employees of the Municipal Councils as well as the sanitary laborers to get their views on the progress of the program. The issues encountered by these laborers were observed by the minister.
Minister instructed the Municipal Commissioners to give a health insurance to these laborers as well as the dust allowance. He advised the Municipal Commissioners to send these laborers for health checkups every three months.
Using of jackets boots and gloves is essential and he instructed the officials to ensure that the laborers get them.
As they deal with germs on a daily basis officials should pay attention to them said the minister and by taking these steps their social standing can be improved, the government information department said.
