
The Department of Meteorology says that cloudy skies and showery conditions are expected to enhance during next few days, particularly in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western, Eastern and Uva provinces under the influence of the atmospheric disturbance in the Bay of Bengal to the southeast of Sri Lanka.
Heavy falls (about 100mm) can be expected at some places particularly in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces, it said.
Due to the active cloudiness in the Southern sea areas, the possibility of heavy showers and sudden roughness of the sea areas associated with sudden increase of wind speed (up to 70-80 kmph) over the sea areas off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Galle via Pottuvil and Hambantota.
The weather advisory issued by the department’s Early Warning Centre requested Naval and fishing communities to be vigilant in this regards.
