
The five police officers arrested in connection with the death of two university students in Jaffna, have been further remanded till December 02 by the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court.
They were arrested on October 21 after two Tamil students of the Jaffna University were allegedly shot dead the previous night at a police checkpoint at Kokuvil, Kulappidy junction in Jaffna.
The five arrested policemen, who were manning the check point, were suspend from duty the very same day and remanded till today (18) after being produced at court.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the deaths while the Tamil national Alliance (TNA) have called for an impartial probe.
