Mahinda slams govt. over attempts to sell natural resources

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa Tuesday slammed the government over its move to sell country’s natural resources to foreigners.
He expressed this view while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo.
“Hambantota harbor has been sold to China while harbor in Trincomalee has been sold to India,” Rajapaksa said.
He also added his government’s policy was to develop the county with the assistance from the foreign countries, but not to sell country’s natural resources.
“We had an organized plane when building harbor in Hambantota and the airport.”
Rajapaksa also said economic growth of Sri Lanka stood at 7 per cent during his time, and Hambantota harbor earned profits as well.
