Rs.2 billion worth of cocaine seized

A stock of drugs believed to be cocaine has been discovered inside a container which had arrived from Brazil by customs officers at the Orugodawatta container yard.
The police said the haul was seized following an investigation carried out on Thursday morning.
The drugs were inside the container, which had been registered as a shipment of sugar, it was reported. The police said several packages of cocaine, weighing around 200 kilograms and valued at over Rs.2 billion, were found.
The stock of drugs will be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
