School vacation to begin as 3nd term ends

All state and state approved Sinhala and Tamil medium schools will end third term on 2 December and reopen on January 2, 2017 for first term, the Ministry of Education says.
The O/L exam will commence on 06 December. The conducting of tuition classes, seminars, workshops and printing model papers targeting students sitting for the 2016 G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination has also been prohibited with effect from midnight November 30 until the exams end.
In a statement, the Department of Examinations said it warns that legal action would be taken against the institutions and individuals who disregard these instructions.
