India won’t seek economic benefits from us through ETCA - SB

The Indian government would not intend to seek economic benefits from Sri Lanka through the proposed economic pact, a top government minister said Tuesday.
Minister of Social Services and Social Empowerment, S. B. Dissanayake, while speaking to reporters in Colombo said the Indian government is eyeing to strengthen security in the region and as well as to secure the leadership of the region by inking the Indo-Lanka Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) with Sri Lanka.
“We should extend our support, since India is our nabour country”
He also dismissed reports citing as a ‘myth’ that the agreement would pave the way for Indian professionals to enter the Sri Lankan jobs.
