
A woman who was charged with impersonating a Woman Sub-Inspector of Police has been acquitted by the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court, following a long trial.
The woman, who is a resident of Dharmaraja Mawatha in Galle, had been charged with impersonating a police officer by the Anuradhapura Police special criminal investigations unit.
The trial had continued for a long period during which the suspect was arrested, remanded and later released on bail.
However, she was acquitted and ordered released by Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Nadeeka Dilhani Piyaratne as the police had failed to prove the charges against her.
