Navy apprehends 29 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

The Naval personnel have arrested 29 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unlawful fishing gear in the sea area of Silawathurai.
During the arrest; 6 dinghies, 6 fishing nets, 5 diving masks, 10 pairs of diving fins and a GPS unit were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to the Directorate of Fisheries, Mannar for further investigations.
