Youth arrested trying to pay electricity bill with fake notes

A youth has been arrested after he attempted to pay an electricity bill using counterfeit currency notes in Anuradhapura.
He had arrested after he paid an electricity bill with five fake notes of the Rs 1,000 denomination, at a super market in the Anuradhapura town.
The cashier at the super market had inspected the notes based on a suspicion while the Anuradhapura Police was notified after confirming that the notes were forged.
The suspect was taken into custody while another five counterfeit notes of the Rs 5,000 denomination and one of the Rs 1,000 denomination were found in his possession.
The suspect was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for onward action.
