Sri Lanka Police has reportedly decided to suspend the dissemination of information to private-owned media organizations, in the wake of certain recent events which had transpired.
Presently the police department via email provides media organizations with press releases detailing incidents reported within all police divisions.
In addition to this information was also made available through the media unit of the Police Headquarters. If further clarification was necessary the police department had appointed a police media spokesman.
Meanwhile when contacted by Ada Derana with regard to the new development, Police Spokesman Attorney-at-Law ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the dissemination of information to private media organizations has been temporarily suspended.
