The Joint Opposition today charged that Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha’s trip abroad is an attempt to further delay the delimitation report.
MP Dullas Alahapperuma, speaking at a JO press conference in Colombo, said that the aforementioned report was scheduled to be handed over to the minister yesterday and he had traveled overseas despite that.
He said that if the minister is not available even the deputy minister can accept the report and that instead the government is proceeding to postpone it once again saying ‘translation errors’. He says that this is clearly a scheme to delay the report.
The UPFA Parliamentarian said that there is no need for the report to be handed over to the Prime Minister and that he has learnt that deputy minister Priyankara Jayaratne is to receive the report by this evening.
Alahapperuma also said that certain SLFP ministers in the government are conjuring a ‘false’ opposition towards the UNP and that it is clear through their certain behavior.
He said that the UNP’s plan to capture power in 2020.
