Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha has refused to accept the final report of the Delimitation Committee.
This was announced at a press conference held in Colombo on Monday (02).
Faiszer Musthapha went on to say he cannot accept it since two members of the Delimitation Committee have not signed the final report yet.
It was reported that former Governor Saliya Matthew and Attorney S. Misbah have not signed the report.
“I give time for the Delimitation Committee to get the other signs and submit the report as soon as possible,” he said.
The Chairman of the Committee Asoka Peiris while speaking to reporters clarified that the two members have sought more time to review the final report before they sign it. “We submitted it to them on Saturday,” he said.
Meanwhile, sources close to the government said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will also hold a discussion with the Delimitation Committee and other political party leaders on 9 January.
