A 72-year-old woman was killed after she was knocked down by a motorbike in Eravur, the police said.
The accident occurred on Valaichchenai to Batticaloa road on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Eravur and her remains are kept at the Batticaloa hospital pending a post-mortem.
The rider of the bike was arrested and he will be produced in the Court today.
