Anyone can criticize the Government, but do not attempt to ‘distort news’, State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe said on Sunday.
He expressed this view while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo.
While clarifying the move to establish a vehicle assembly plant in Kuliyapitiya, Senasinghe said, “A campaign is underlay to sling mud at the government. We had no intention to promote a certain brand.”
He also went on to say the government had to abandon the agreement with Volkswagen as the company had an issue.
While responding to the tense situation that erupted in Hambantota yesterday, Senasinghe also said that the police had used ‘minimum power’ to disperse the crowd.
