Five Indian fishermen arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

Sri Lanka Navy personnel have arrested 5 Indian fishermen along with their fishing trawler for poaching in the seas off Delft.
A Naval Patrol Craft belonging to the Northern Naval Command had intercepted the fishing boat yesterday (1).
Having brought the arrested fishermen and items to the Naval Base SLNS Elara, they were be handed over to the Jaffna Fisheries Director for onward legal action, the navy said.
Indian media reports say the five fishermen are from Jegadapattinam in Pudukottai district in Tamil Nadu.
On 8 January, 10 fishermen from Ramanathapuram and Pudukottai districts were arrested and their boats impounded by the Sri Lankan Navy for fishing in their territorial waters.
