A trishaw driver has been acquitted by the Gampola Magistrate’s Court on Friday after he appeared on behalf of himself without a lawyer, Ada Derana reporter said.
The Gampola police had filed charges against him on the allegations of obstructing police duty and driving under the influence of liquor.
Magistrate Chandani Meegoda has acquitted him of all the charges due to lack of evidence, reporter added. During hearings into the case, the trishaw driver had also cross examined the police officials, it was reported.
Suspect Ruwan Thusitha Kumara is a resident of Gampola and he was initially arrested over the case in 2014.
