University staff to stage token strike from Tuesday

The Inter University Trade Union Joint Committee (IUTUJC) is scheduled to resort to a token strike from Tuesday.
A demonstration will also be held by the university non-academic staff in front of the University Grants Commission tomorrow afternoon.
The strike is believed to be caused due to the lack of initiative taken by the commission to issue a circular to increase the staff’s monthly allowance.
Further steps to be taken over the issue will be discussed during a combined union meeting on 12 February, a spokesperson said.
