
Leader of the House, Lakshman Kiriella says that the government’s stance is to go for a referendum with the support of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) with regard to formulating a new constitution.
The minister stated that the government’s intention is to find a solution, based on the 13 amendment, to the national issue through the new constitution.
He added that the government is ready to move into a referendum with the support of the Sri Lankan Freedom Party (SLFP).
Answering a question raised by MP Wimal Weerawansa in parliament today, regarding the recent statement made by the foreign minister to foreign media, he stated that clauses to be included in the constitution are yet to be decided upon.
