Navy arrests 6 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

The Naval personnel have arrested six local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing practices without valid licence in the sea areas of Ilanthadiya and Nororochcholai.
During the arrest; two dinghies and an unauthorized net used for fishing activities were also taken into naval custody.
The arrested fishermen along with belongings were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Puttalam and Department of Wildlife Conservation in Kandakkuliya for further investigations.
